When and how did you get into Tori? when I was 14 or 15 and under the influence of Megan... I remembered hearing a few of her songs at camp or other places, then Megan started making me these mix tapes with lots of Tori, and she eventually grew on me and I bought From The Choirgirl Hotel shortly after it came out (I was 15 or 16)
What are your favorite songs from each Tori album?
Y Kant Tori Read: Etienne, Cool On Your Island
Little Earthquakes: Silent All These Years, Winter
Under The Pink: Cornflake Girl
Boys For Pele: Mr. Zebra, Talula
From The Choirgirl Hotel: Spark, Playboy Mommy
To Venus and Back: Bliss, 1000 Oceans, Mr. Zebra (live), Sugar (live)
Strange Little Girls: Strange Little Girl, I Don't Like Mondays
Scarlet's Walk: A Sorta Fairytale, Taxi Ride
Tales Of A Librarian: Oh boy, it has so many of my favorites on it...
Bee-sides: Take to the Sky, Mary
Have you ever seen Tori live? Where and when? Twice! I went with Megan and Kathy and Kathy's mom during the 5 1/2 weeks tour with Alanis, that was awesome. Then Megan and I went to the March 16 Pittsburgh show this year, that was also awesome.
What were the most meaningful moments/songs during any Tori concerts you've seen? Well, this year I started sobbing when she played Mary and I Can't See New York, and for the last song, she played Putting the Damage On, and people with cigarette lighters held them up, and it was so beautiful...
If you could make a 20-track Tori Amos greatest hits album, what would you put on it? (It doesn't have to be in any particular order.)
*copies from favorites and adds/subtracts a couple*
Etienne, Cool On Your Island, Silent All These Years, Winter, Cornflake Girl, Mr. Zebra, Talula, Spark, Playboy Mommy, Bliss, 1000 Oceans, Sugar (live), Strange Little Girl, I Don't Like Mondays, A Sorta Fairytale, Taxi Ride, Take to the Sky, Mary (the original version), Professional Widow, Raspberry Swirl
Are there any Tori songs you don't like (or songs that you've just heard so many times, you're sick of them?): I hate the new version of Mary, it just botches up the song completely. I also don't really like Bells For Her and 97 Bonnie and Clyde (it's creepy as hell, though that was the intent)
Are there any Tori songs that have particular sentimental value to you? Why? Silent All These Years is just... me, so is Winter, and Playboy Mommy tugs at the heartstrings
Are there any Tori songs you prefer to hear live versus on an album? I like the live version of Sugar a lot more than the b-side version, and she did an awesome job with Talula this year
What are a few of your other favorite bands/artists? Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Michelle Branch, and others
