Alice the mannequin and me!

(no subject)

I skipped Nesset's class today because for some reason I had this sudden, random wave of anger, bitterness, and self-loathing, and I don't know why. Then I decided I was tired of going to school, because I've been going to school every year since I was a toddler, and I'm sick of learning what other people think I should learn, and it's pointless because I end up forgetting most of it anyway. But that feeling passed after a while, and I'm hunky-dory now. Katie and Jamie and I were messing around with a tape recorder today, recording ourselves hitting on each other and talking about sex in graphic detail (we do random vulgar stuff like this constantly... it's a writers' house girl thing). Then we played the tape so we sounded like chipmunks. It was so hilarious, I drooled on myself.

Leen! I was busy wasting my time playing computer games earlier, so I'm sorry I couldn't tell you a story about monkeys and pirates and jellybeans and turtle soup. But I will now!

And now, because it's been in my head all day, a mini-poll.

Poll #192358 For those of you who know me in person

What am I like in person?

What am I like online?

How am I different in person/online?

I'm going to make apple pie again today! There are all these apples in the kitchen that people aren't eating, so I'll do something about it. If you're on campus and want some, stop by sometime this evening. Mmm, pie...

Happy birthday, Jessica! You should eat pie. It will make you feel better. Well, somewhat, at least. And I'm proud of you for being assertive and standing your ground. You are awesome.

I'm still in my pjs and haven't eaten lunch yet! I love only having classes 3-4 days a week. Of course, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays leave me exhausted from all the classes and activities, but at least I get a break every other day. I'm going to wander down to Bilo today and do some food shopping. I might even bring my messenger bag along with my backpack so I can carry groceries back without killing my fingers. Plastic bags are very painful to carry for long distances. If I had any sense, I'd ask someone to drive, but you know how I am... I rarely ask anyone for anything because I have some weird fear of it. *shrugs*

I'm torn between dressing up my mannequin in a coconut bra and hula skirt or dressing her up for Halloween, in my gothic dress or the black lana...

What the hell is wrong with modern stores? Why do they never sell rolling pins any more? I searched half a dozen stores in Meadville. Sure, they had plenty of *other* cooking supplies, but no rolling pins. Even the Amish store didn't have them. I finally wandered into the thrift store and found one hiding behind a rack. It was a $7 antique, but it looked nice and broken-in, so I bought it. Now I can make my pie! But why don't most stores carry rolling pins? You'd think they'd be a kitchen supply staple, but noooooooo, apparently everyone uses pre-made crusts now. Whatever happened to making pies from scratch? What about rolling out cookie dough? Not everyone buys store-bought cookies or those tubes of ready-to-cut dough. Some people like to cook the old-fashioned way instead of just buying everything pre-cut, peeled, cooked, and wrapped. Stupid lazy people (says the girl who's too lazy to get out of bed most mornings). Gee whiz... what is the world coming to? *grumblegrumble*

Holy cow, it's past 5 already. Time to start peeling the apples and making pie the RIGHT way!

The pie turned out beautifully, and it was almost worth trudging around Meadville with a shitload of heavy groceries fruitlessly hunting for a rolling pin for several hours. I say almost because I still want to burninate certain stores, but that's ok. Some of my housemates and I sat around eating pie and watching "Office Space" (Jamie wanted to watch Rocky Horror again, but after she found out I was an "Office Space" virgin, she changed her mind). Great movie. Milton was definitely my favorite character (the mumbly guy people treated like shit), especially in the last few seconds where he was mumbling about putting strychnine in the guacamole.

And Leen made my day. I love you, Leeny-Meeny-Miny-Mo!
Swiped from leentigress:
Ade is awesome, because she told me a story about monkeys and pirates and jellybeans and turtle soup.
And she's awesome because she's Ade, too, of course.
She's one of the people I wish I'd gotten to read more of at Alpha, *nodnod* because she's so awesome and because her reading at the bookstore was so cool. And silly. And definitely memorable.

*grins* Well, I'm a little post-happy again today. Ah well.
