I actually squealed when I saw this

(no subject)

Random Ade quote of the day:
"I like my popcorn like I like my men: covered in cheese."

I crack myself up sometimes. My dad and neighbor were in the kitchen making popcorn and talking about how they like their popcorn, and I just had to add that. It made me giggle deviously for a while, too. And I saw Monty Python's The Meaning of Life for the first time. And I will never watch an R-rated movie with those people again. I was with my dad and neighbors (Nancy and her son Colin, who is 11, and later Daragh, who's 13), and they kept pausing the movie and debating whether Colin should leave the room for the scary/indecent parts, and my dad fast-forwarded through a scene because the guy was singing about penises. All the pausing and fast-forwarding really irritated me, so I didn't enjoy the movie as much as I would have if I had watched it with friends. I think my favorite scene was the beginning, where the accountants revolted and turned the building into a pirate ship. That was just hilarious. I can't wait to see Life of Brian when I go back to school (not with my dad and neighbors, who would just be annoying).

So. What exactly do people do on dates? Because I'm kind of clueless. I've never dated before, and I find the idea a little intimidating. Heh. Intimi-dating. Bad pun. *dodges rotten vegetables* How is it different from just doing something with a friend? Because I've gone to movies, restaurants, and other things with guy friends before, but they weren't dates. What's the difference? Is it supposed to be some sort of relationship-building exercise? According to several web sites I looked at, it's supposed to be a way for people to get to know each other and decide if they want to pursue a relationship. But what if you've known the person for a few years and you're already close friends with them? Does it just mean you would hang out like you normally would but add a little cuddling or cutesy stuff to it? I'm lost.

And the funny thing is, I had to give a speech on dating once. But this was an impromptu speech in high school, and I couldn't have drawn a worse topic that I had 2 minutes to prepare for. So I went up to the front of the room and said something like, "Um, so I got 'dating...'" and the class laughed because they all knew me and knew I pretty much avoided most boys. Then I said something like, "I don't know much about this, since I've never been on a date. I suppose it's some sort of social ritual where two people get together, and sometimes it can lead to marriage... or... um... other things. Yeah. *laughs nervously* That was the suckiest speech ever." And then I sat down, and we all had a good laugh. Somehow I didn't fail that one. And I still don't know what the heck dating is all about. But that's ok. I'm not the only one.

Me sleepy. Time for Adey to go night night.
