I'm a dorkety dork dork

(no subject)

Dr. Faustus passed away today. He was a great philanthropist, according to Nick. I got him along with his surviving cagemate Dante (in good health, fortunately) on October 13, 2004. He was always the playful one, getting into everything. He was quite fat for a while, until he got sick in his later weeks. Dante and I will miss him. And, of course, he had to go and die with his body half in and out of a hole in one of the rat-houses, which made dislodging it an awkward chore. Well, I'll bury him tomorrow. I'm looking for a new cagemate for Dante so he won't get too lonely.

Cut is the branch that might have grown full straight,
And burned is Apollo's laurel bough
That sometime grew within this learned man.
Faustus is gone. Regard his hellish fall,
Whose fiendful fortune may exhort the wise
Only to wonder at unlawful things,
Whose deepness doth entice such forward wits
To practice more than heavenly power permits.

Doctor Faustus, by Christopher Marlowe

Well, my rat never sold his soul to the devil (to my knowledge), but at least his demise wasn't as horrific as his namesake's.

To Doc! *raises a glass* We'll miss you, puppy.
