Baby Ade!

Writer's Block: Ah, Youth

Well, folks, Annie now has a blog. Yes, that Annie, the goddess of bad weather that I've been writing about for like 8 years now. Welcome to the blogosphere, cheeseballfairy. Now you can share your inane babbling with the world, and just maybe I'll finish your book before I die of old age.

Describe one moment from your youth that is impenetrably seared into your memory.

Of all the random things that come to mind, I'm going to go with the first time I ever corrected someone's grammar. In first grade, my teacher Mrs. Scott would always say "what?" in a certain tone if someone used improper grammar. I was in class one day, and I think it was my friend Cailin who went up to Mrs. Scott and asked, "Can me and Jessica put our desks together?" I turned to Cailin and said, "what?" Tori Amos started early on the piano. Tiger Woods started early with the golf clubs. Me, I became a grammar nazi at age 6. And now I'm an editor. Go figure, huh?

Also, the most prominent memory I have of preschool is incredibly random and pointless yet still amuses me 20 years later. For some reason, I vividly remember my friend Joshua speedwalking across the room going NOM NOM NOM on a plastic hot dog.
