History

20th January 2009

4:10pm: In our latest restaurant expedition, Laura and I went to Wok in Heaven (in Plum) yesterday. We were the only people there (of course, this was at like 5:30 on a Monday, and I've found that restaurants are rarely busy then). They have these red envelopes hanging from the ceiling (I assume they're Chinese New Year money envelopes). We had some crab rangoons to start. They were decent but sweet (since I like to make my own crab rangoons, I've become rather picky about them, and I like mine better than restaurant ones anyway). I just glanced over the menu briefly, so I didn't get a good look at everything they had to offer. I got General Tso's tofu, which I enjoyed. They cooked the tofu just the way I like it (crispy on the outside and soft on the inside), and the sauce was pretty good. Laura got some curry-flavored rice noodle dish. I tried a bite of it, and I thought it was good too. On a scale of sucky to awesome, I'd say Wok in Heaven is pretty good. It's kind of out of the way (then again, I'm not all that familiar with the Plum area), but worth a shot. As far as comparing it to other Chinese restaurants in the east Allegheny and west Westmoreland county area, I'd say it's above average.

(confess!)
