It's such a nice feeling when you're sitting there minding your own business and overhear someone saying something really nice about you. I was sitting in one of the halls, searching for somethingorother in my backpack, and Linda (the workshop teacher-person) walked in talking to Sister Ruth (yep, a nun, but she wears regular clothes) about how she had an amazing writer in her class that's only 21. She had no idea I was right there, but it was great. Also, being told my writing is like Francesca Lia Block's is one of the awesomest things anyone has ever said to me. That's it. Tomorrow, I'm going down to the bookstore and buying a bunch of Linda's books, just because she gave me one fucking huge self-esteem boost. And once I get this novel written and published (weee, I have motivation!), I'm going to send her a free signed copy with a batch of cookies. Heh... I'm probably going to do the same for lots of other people that have helped me along the way, so I'll end up spending all the royalties on books and cookie materials.

Speaking of this book I have yet to write, it seems like several of my college friends are surfacing in the characters. This is both freaky and cool. And yesterday I was at this reading, I forget the guy's name, but he just had this amazing look about him. He was bald and tan with ears that stuck out and an earring in one of them, and he had this really expressive face and a great smile, and he wore this really white shirt. I thought to myself, "He looks like a PIRATE!" Only cleaner and stuff. So there's definitely going to be a pirate in my story that looks like him. I have yet to tell him this because I have issues with talking to people, but I just can't stop staring at him when I see him because he just looks like an awesome pirate. He's also a hilarious writer with an interesting past. Also, for tomorrow's class we're supposed to come up with a bully. So there's going to be a snotty crew member named Kurt Nesbit (Nick gets credit for this name) that always talks down to Anna and the cabin boys, has a very low opinion of children, hits on every girl he sees at port, and talks in a very calm voice that's hypnotic and sleep-inducing. I think many of you can tell where I got the idea for this villain. *smirks*
