I got into English 400! Yesssss! Now I just need to get the add card signed, and I'll be in the advanced fiction writing workshop! I know I'm a good writer despite my lack of self-esteem (which is something most serious writers tend to have because we have high standards for our writing). Of course I got in. And last night I finished a story, so today I printed my writing portfolio and put copies in the mailboxes of Bakken and Nesset. Since I want to do the creative comp, I needed to submit a portfolio (2 stories, in my case) to 2 creative writing professors 2 weeks before the comp proposal due date. And comp proposals are due 2 weeks from today. Phew. So I'll most likely get approved (Nesset was almost certain I would, since I'm a good writer and am active in the campus writing community), and then I can do the comp proposal. It's just 2-3 pages on what I want to do, themes I want to explore, writing influences, etc. No biggie, really, and I know I want to do a collection of short stories. The comp will be 50-70 pages of polished fiction, which I can definitely accomplish in a semester. So I'm not terrified of this upcoming project. I can do it. I'm just worried about taking 3 300-400-level classes next semester plus the comp. I almost always fall behind in my classes because I'm a lazy procrastinator, and I'll really need to get on task if I want to pass these upper-level courses. Weeeeee I'm a senior! But I'll survive.
