If you were independently wealthy, where in the world would you live and how would you spend your time?
Well, when my awesome young adult fantasy novels make me eccentrically rich (let's all have a good laugh at that), I'm going to live in a castle on the top of a hill, surrounded by forests, and with a moat and all... somewhere not too polluted and without a lot of people. Maybe somewhere where they're doing things right and have windmills instead of nuclear reactors and such... like those Scandinavian countries that are all about going green (when they're not blanketed in white). *sings* Finland, Finland, Finland, that's the country for me! Or maybe Canada. I'm not terribly picky about location, just not in the city, because I generally dislike cities.
I'm obviously going to spend some amount of time writing, because a) it'll keep my finances in order, and b) if I don't, my head will explode. I will have a manservant in a loincloth, of course, or maybe a whole fleet of them since this is a large castle after all, and cleaning litterboxes for a few hundred cats is not a one-person job, especially when that person is bringing me drinks and cleaning the kitchens and firing up the hot tub for me. A couple of my friends might have their own suites in the castle, so I don't get TOO bored, and because then I could stop bugging them to move near me. In the courtyard, there are all sorts of fun things to do. There's a biiiiig trampoline, a swing set, one of those giant, ancient, gnarled trees that's perfect for climbing, etc. I also have my own zoo, so I spend a lot of time there. Riding lions and playing checkers with monkeys, that sort of thing.
