So I think I'm lactose intolerant. I started wondering in college, when some kinds of ice cream gave me a funny feeling in my belly. That progressed to some kinds of cheese, and now it seems like most dairy products make me feel weird. This is irritating. As most (if not all) of you know, I love cheese. I eat it all the time. And yet, it no longer agrees with me.
Last night, I faced Temptation. I was at Pasqualino's, debating what to order. Should I get the Margherita pizza? Covered in delicious mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil? Or the capellini pomodoro? "Hmmm," I thought, "I like them both, but the pizza is covered in cheese and will likely make me feel funny later. And yet... that's what I really want right now. Awww, heck... I'm getting pizza." And it was delicious. I enjoyed giving into Temptation, even though my belly felt weird for several hours afterwards. I do not regret it. I also have leftovers, which I will enjoy, even though I'll still be feeling it until dinner time.
*sigh* I know the best thing for me is to probably give up dairy products, but I don't think I can do that. They're too delicious. I just wish that Lactron, the almighty god of dairy, didn't have such a sick sense of humor. (And no, Lactron isn't a real god, at least not to my knowledge. I just made him up right now, because I have no idea if there's already a god of dairy products. And "Lactron" is a fun name.) Ahhh, Temptation, why must you torment me? You know I cannot resist you!
On the other hand, apparently they make soy cheese. Has anyone actually tried it? Is it anything even remotely like the real thing? I'm worried that if I try it, I'll be tremendously disappointed.
